QUESTIONS
4,000,000 SOLD SINCE 1976? WHY HAVEN'T I HEARD OF RAVELCO?
The bottom line is this: the manufacturer, based in Texas, does little to no advertising. Ravelco has been a successful business for 30 years on the strength of the product, the articles written about it, and the word of mouth from satisfied customers. Ravelco is a family owned business that is not looking to grow into a large company with a large advertising budget to maintain. They have been making the Ravelco Anti-Theft Device for 30 years which works just as well in today's vehicles, as in older ones.
WHY WOULD I NEED A RAVELCO? MY VEHICLE ALREADY HAS A FACTORY ALARM.
Conventional wisdom says - and research shows, that car alarms don't prevent car theft. According to the non-profit Highway Loss Data Institute, which surveyed insurance-claims data from 73 million vehicles nationwide in 1997, cars with alarms show no overall reduction in theft losses compared to cars without alarms. Ask yourself this: When you hear a car alarm siren, do you think someone is breaking into the car, or do you think it's a false alarm? Most people think the sounds of car alarms are false alarms, because most of the time, they are.
THE CAR SALESPEOPLE TOLD ME MY VEHICLE ALREADY HAS A FACTORY ANTI-THEFT DEVICE BUILT INTO ITS IGNITION KEY. IS THIS ENOUGH TO PREVENT MY CAR FROM BEING STOLEN?
Transponder-based anti-theft systems are installed on almost all new General Motors, Ford, Chrysler and Toyota vehicles, at no charge. They feature a computer chip embedded in the ignition key, which emits a signal to the vehicle's computer system in the steering column to identify the "real" ignition key and allow the vehicle to start. These systems are easy to beat and bypass modules are readily available via the internet.
MY CAR SALESMAN SAID IF I INSTALLED ANY AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT ON MY VEHICLE OTHER THAN THE FACTORY EQUIPMENT, IT WOULD VOID MY WARRANTY. IS THIS TRUE?
No, this is not true. A Federal Law (Magnuson - Moss Act) protects you against a car dealer voiding your warranty. Car dealers install non-factory car alarms and high end audio-visual systems in cars everyday. A Ravelco Anti-Theft Device is no different. Some car dealers will tell you that aftermarket equipment will void your warranty in order to convince you to buy products they profit from selling. It is against the law for dealers to void your new car warranty for installing aftermarket equipment.
WHAT GUARANTEES DO YOU PROVIDE REGARDING THE QUALITY OF THE RAVELCO INSTALLATION?
We are so confident in the quality of the Ravelco Anti-Theft Device and our installation that we offer a Lifetime Warranty for the original owner. All connections are either soldered, or are crimped with a copper connector, then covered in a marine quality adhesive heat shrink to insure the best possible connection. Connections made this way are often stronger than the original wire. All wires are look exactly like factory wiring. We've installed Ravelcos in everything from 1965 Mustangs, to Ferraris and Porsches and each install is done with the highest quality parts and workmanship.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I LOSE MY RAVELCO PLUG?
The Ravelco Anti-Theft Device comes with two plugs, so that you have a spare as a back-up. Additional plugs may be ordered and generally can be shipped to customers right away.
WHY DOESN'T THE RAVELCO HAVE A "RED FLASHING LIGHT" TO HELP WARD OFF THIEVES?
Auto thieves are not timid, and a red flashing light does absolutely nothing to prevent auto theft or break ins. Many vehicles with full-blown alarm systems and red flashing warning lights are stolen each day, which proves that the only red lights that car thieves run from are the ones on top of police cars. The Ravelco system includes two warning labels that attach to each side window.
